Failure to Pay Fine (FTP)

Failure to pay a fine or FTP is another way the DMV can control you and will suspend your drivers license. FTP is when you are obligated or the DMV says you obligated to pay a certain amount of money on a citation you received. If you don’t pay that amount to the court and when it is due, the DMV will suspend your driver’s license. By not following through with that payment a Failure to Pay abstract is sent to the DMV. That triggers an automatic suspension of the violators drivers license. To get them to lift the suspension you’ll need to do the following:

  1. paying what they say you owe
  2. showing by proof that you do not owe what they say you owe
  3. showing by proof they have made a mistake and getting them to acknowledge their mistake
